Levi Hardung (2024-2025) Research: Engineered robotic support for fire fighting - ASR Laboratory, Odessa High School, Odessa, WA (2025) In the U.S, there were about 60,000 firefighter injuries reported in 2019, with nearly 30% occurring during fire suppression activities. Firefighting robots will help firefighters by combating fires in times when not humanly possible. This will reduce the injuries or death of firefighters while combatting fires at the same time. A firefighting robot will be engineered to help firefighters in multiple ways: the robot will contain and use a hose system, the robot will have Mecanum wheels for easier maneuverability for greater proximity to the fire (30%), and the robot will carry heavy firefighting equipment to lessen the weight load for firefighters (20%).
